The ban on the sale of second-hand cars is moved to the judiciary!

The automobile sector in Turkey has suffered from major problems such as inflation, high exchange rates and taxes. So much so that the addition of the supply chain in the new car world opens the door to a great disorder in used car purchases and sales. To prevent this Mehmet Mus, Minister of Trademade an important statement. Then the ban on automobile sales became one of the most important issues of recent days.

MASFED will file a lawsuit on the grounds that the ban on automobile sales is unconstitutional

Following Muş’s statements, the “car sales ban” was published in the Official Gazette on 16 August. With this law, cars purchased for commercial purposes will not be able to be sold before 6 months have passed and 6 thousand km has been traveled. In addition, it is aimed to prevent people who buy and sell cars from buying vehicles at dealers and selling them at much higher prices.

Investigation into websites selling second-hand cars from the Competition Authority!

The Competition Authority announced that it has opened an investigation into used car sales companies operating in our country.

However, this situation was met with a reaction by the Motor Vehicle Dealers Federation (MASFED). According to the news in Dünya Newspaper, the federation argues that the ban is unconstitutional. On the other hand, Aydın Erkoç, Chairman of MASFED, argued that while the new regulation decision was taken, the opinion of anyone in the sector was not taken and the results of the decision were not analyzed.

Erkoç made the following statements regarding the issue.

We condemn this decision taken by ignoring 70 thousand registered businesses, their employees and their families. It is tried to be shown as a scapegoat for the current troubles, the motor vehicle dealers who pay their taxes to the state, employ personnel, and are after their livelihood; This is neither law nor conscience. We all know the problems experienced and the reasons for the rise in prices.

In addition, Erkoç states that the law is not in line with its intended target. Stating that the change has no effect on those who abuse the sector, Erkoç said that motor vehicle dealers who do their job in an ethical framework are more affected. He added that only one fifth of the new and second hand vehicle sales across the country are made by dealers and authorized motor vehicle dealers.
