A major earthquake occurred at 04:17 in the morning in the province of Kahramanmaraş in Turkey today. So much so that this earthquake affected 10 provinces including Hatay, Adana, Diyarbakır, Malatya and Şanlıurfa. Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that an investigation has been launched against companies selling bus prices at exorbitant prices, and sellers of vital goods such as blankets, and the necessary instructions have been given.

The statement made by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is as follows;

Taking advantage of the earthquake that took place in our country on February 6, 2023 and affecting 10 provinces, some bus companies operating in AŞTİ increased their ticket prices 2-3 times, and the prices of many goods, especially blankets, which are of vital importance for the use of the citizens affected by the earthquake, are exorbitant by the relevant sellers. An investigation was initiated by our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of ‘influencing prices’ and ‘avoiding the sale of goods or services’, following the notifications that the rate of increase.
