Berlin Support from the West is extremely important for Ukraine’s successes. Western intelligence services have been supporting the country since the beginning of the war with detailed information, for example about Russian troop movements or ammunition depots, which is obtained from satellite images, local sources or electronic reconnaissance.
As the “New York Times” reported in mid-September, this has been increasing since the summer, with Ukrainian military leaders now having daily exchanges with the Americans and British in Kyiv. In the run-up to the successful Kharkiv offensive, the Ukrainians, Americans and British played through various scenarios and then decided to attack in the north-east. During August, the Americans provided more and more information about the Russian positions and pointed out possible weaknesses.
