Popular meme coin of recent days BONK, seems to have revived sales of Solana’s “Saga” mobile phone. Saga, which was considered unsuccessful at its first release, can be sold on the market for up to $ 5000 instantly. Here’s why.
The unit price of Saga phones listed on eBay, one of the leading online marketplaces, was over $2000. While these sales took place in the USA, the products were new and boxed. But then some listings listed them for up to $5,000 and those phones were sold, according to The Block.
solana Sales of Saga phones surged last week as some arbitrage traders went after the airdrop of 30 million BONK tokens given to each phone owner. While the airdrop was worth over $700 at its peak last week, it’s important to remember that the phone’s price tag was $599.
In early November, dog-themed BONK quickly gained popularity among blockchain users, rising as much as 110% in a 24-hour period and pushing 30-day gains to over 700%.
This appears to have boosted the fortunes of the Saga phone, whose disappointing sales had previously led to uncertainty about its future.
“We didn’t see a ton of signals about whether this was something compelling enough to sell 50,000 units,” Solana founder Anatoly Yakovenko said in an interview at the time. “I think 25,000 to 50,000 units is just to feel like there is a tight user base that developers will be forced to ship apps to.”
The phone was first available earlier this year, and its price was reduced from $1,000 to $599 in August.
