Tesla will build a new Megapack factory in China
The electric car giant has announced that it wants to open a new Megapack battery factory in Shanghai. The factory, which is planned to be completed in the middle of 2024, 10,000 Megapacks per year battery is expected. It’s worth noting that an average Megapack can power 3600 homes for one hour.
Megapack, designed and manufactured by Tesla large-scale battery storage system. It is popularly used to store and distribute electricity generated from renewable sources such as wind or solar power.

Tesla plans to sell the Megapacks it produces in China globally. But this is not the first Megapack factory. Previously, Megapack facilities have been built in several locations around the world, including Australia and the US state of Texas.
Tesla’s announcement of a new battery factory in Shanghai goes in the opposite direction with calls from the US government. Earlier, the Biden administration had said it would provide subsidies for electric vehicles and related technologies to be produced in the United States.
