OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wants to develop OpenAI’s first consumer device. To achieve this goal, he approached LoveFrom, the design firm of Apple’s former chief design officer Jony Ive. The two companies brainstormed in Ive’s San Francisco studio. Afterwards, they evaluated the design of the product together.
Ive and Altman will design a device that offers a more natural and intuitive user experience for interacting with artificial intelligence. The duo is inspired by the interaction of the touchscreen technology in the original iPhone with the mobile internet. There is also another initiative that will provide financial support to these two companies. Softbank Group, which includes Arm, which provides chip support for Apple devices, will provide financial support.
