The test and training ship TCG Ufuk, developed with the contract signed in 2016 between the Presidency of Defense Industries and the main contractor STM, entered the inventory with the ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Bringing many innovations and domestic technology with it, TCG Ufuk was launched in 2019 after being completed in Istanbul Maritime Shipyard in 3 years. Then the process of integrating other systems began. Today, however, the service period has begun.

TCG Horizon features
TCG Ufuk was developed by the main contractor STM, together with the subcontractors of Istanbul Denizcilik Shipyard, ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, İŞBİR, ANEL and YALTES. In addition, it is said that nearly 200 domestic companies contributed and the domestic rate reached 70 percent.
Built in the form of a MİLGEM Island Class Corvette, the ship will be able to accommodate 110 personnel. TCG Ufuk, which houses the platform required for helicopters up to 10 tons at the stern, has a full length of 99.5 meters, a maximum width of 14.4 meters, and a displacement of 2 thousand 250 tons.
In addition, the President of the Defense Industry, İsmail Demir, announced on his social media that the tender process for the 6th, 7th and 8th ships was started. He also said that the locality rate of these MİLGEMs, which has already exceeded 70 percent, will reach much higher levels.
In addition, it was said that domestic and national vertical launch systems will be used for the first time in these ships. In addition, the anti-ship missile Atmaca and the close air defense system Gökdeniz, which were developed with domestic and national resources, will be used. There will also be avionics such as domestic radar and combat management systems.
