Frankfurt The state helps families with various financial aids. The child benefit is the classic. But with a few tricks, parents can persuade the Treasury to provide additional subsidies or share in their expenses.
In order for the state cash injections to be as high as possible, the prospective parents sometimes have to take care of them early on.
1. Parental Allowance
Parents who have a child are jointly entitled to 14 months of basic parental allowance. The amount of child benefit or the child allowance is the same for all parents – no matter how high their income is. It is completely different with parental allowance.
The state pays between 65 and 100 percent of the net salary – at least 300 euros and a maximum of 1800 euros per month. The basis for the calculation is the net salary in the twelve months before the month of the child’s birth. If a child is born in January 2021, the entire year 2020 is relevant for the calculation.
