Stockholm After the interruption of Russian gas supplies to Europe, the social-democratic Swedish minority government issued billions in guarantees for energy companies. In doing so, she wants to prevent a possible financial crisis. Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson announced liquidity guarantees amounting to several hundred billion crowns for domestic, but also Nordic and Baltic energy companies over the weekend.
Parliament will vote on the two-digit billion euro measure on Monday. A majority in favor is certain, as almost all parties support the loan guarantees.
Because of the Russian gas supply freeze, Europe is facing “a pure war winter,” said Andersson. “The purpose of Putin’s energy war is to divide us. But on the contrary, the EU has shown fantastic unity, ”said the head of government.
