“Superman” Dean Cain – Coming-out in comic book was “not necessary”

After this bisexual coming-out of comic hero Jon Kent, son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, in the new comic book of the series “Superman: Son of Kal-El”, as expected, there were all sorts of opinions this week. Both positive and less sympathetic reactions have been rushing through social media since the news was reported.

The most prominent critic is now of all people Superman himself! Or rather, its series star, actor Dean Cain (55).

In 88 episodes he played the world-famous superhero alongside “Desperate Housewives” actress Teri Hatcher (56) in the US series “Superman – The Adventures of Lois & Clark”.

On Fox News breakfast television, he said about the coming-out in the magazine this week: “I think it’s not bold and brave.” In his opinion, it would have been brave “if he were to fight for the rights of gay people in Iran,” said Cain. He would also have found it exciting if Superman would “stand up against the Taliban who kill gay men” or “fight against those powers that bring refugees to the United States”.

Only: he thinks a bisexual comic book hero is “not necessary” in the USA. 20 years ago that might have been important, today it is not “brave”.

As one of the few Hollywood stars who campaigned for Donald Trump as President in 2016 and 2020, Cain also likes to be annoyed about many other topics, such as the “anti-Americanism” that is rampant in the USA.

“I was upset that Dean Cain was straight”

The homosexual “Star Trek” actor George Takei (84) reacted to Cain’s statements about the bisexual superboy, how he usually reacts – funny. On Twitter he wrote: “Dean Cain is apparently upset about the bisexual coming out of the new super boy in the comics. I used to be upset that Dean Cain was straight, but he’s definitely cured me of it now. “
