Street Fighter 6 new trailer released

Capcom released a new trailer for Street Fighter 6. In the new trailer, the last character to be added to the game as part of the game’s 1st year package was also revealed. This character from the past will excite Street Fighter fans.

Akuma appeared in the new trailer of Street Fighter 6

In the trailer, we watch again as an angry, but this time older, Akuma rips the head of a statue off its shoulders with a ghostly, red Shoryuken (Street Fighter’s iconic Dragon Punch move). Akuma seems to be very powerful in this game too.

Although it’s hard to see, Ryu is also in the Akuma trailer, indicating that the two rivals will be showering fireballs on each other again. Another part of the trailer also features a Street Fighter Alpha 2-inspired design of Akuma. That’s all we see in the trailer, no gameplay elements are shown.

Sony announced the most downloaded PlayStation games last month. Popular PS4, PS5 and PS VR games were included in the list.

Akuma’s appearance follows the debut of other DLC characters Rashid, AKI and Ed. Akuma appears as a character that complements the game’s first year DLC characters. Capcom has yet to make an announcement for the second year.

The official statement about Akuma is as follows:

“The evil Akuma joins the Street Fighter 6 roster, completing the award-winning fighting game’s year 1 roster of characters that will begin roaming the streets in spring 2024! Players can battle Akuma in three game modes, including Fighting Arena, World Tour, and Battle Center. We look forward to sharing much more about Akuma. And stay tuned for interesting announcements about year 2 content next year, and maybe some fun events coming to Battle Center!”

Street Fighter 6 sold three million copies in seven months after going on sale in June 2023. The game started off strong with sales of one million copies in its launch weekend, then hit two million copies sold just over a month after it went on sale.
