Frankfurt, Tokyo Asian stocks headed for a second straight week of gains on Friday, although trading was choppy. Investors worried about shifts in Chinese economic policy, turmoil in commodity markets from the war in Ukraine and aggressive US monetary policy.

“In Asia, asset prices have stabilized somewhat this week following last week’s statement by China’s Vice Premier,” said Carlos Casanova, senior Asia economist at UBP. “But what we’re also seeing is a little more caution from global investors when it comes to the US economy and what that means for Asia.”

The Tokyo stock exchange was initially weaker on Friday.

The Nikkei index, which comprises 225 values, was 0.2 percent lower at 28,062 points. The broader Topix index fell 0.1 percent to 1,979 points.
