People under the age of 30 should only be vaccinated with Biontech. This is recommended by the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko).
According to Stiko, recent data showed that heart muscle and pericardial inflammation were seen more frequently in young people under 30 years of age after vaccination with the Spikevax vaccine from Moderna than after vaccination with Comirnaty, the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer. For over 30-year-olds, however, there is no increased risk of heart muscle and pericarditis after vaccination with Spikevax. Pregnant women should be offered Biontech vaccinations regardless of age.
