Berlin The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) is in favor of corona booster vaccinations for all people over the age of 18. The committee announced this on Thursday in Berlin. A corresponding draft resolution was passed to expert groups and federal states for a vote, so changes are still possible. It is not yet a final Stiko recommendation.
So far, the Stiko had recommended booster vaccinations mainly for people over 70, for people with immunodeficiency, residents of care facilities as well as staff in medical facilities and nursing staff. In view of the sharp rise in the number of infections, politicians and several other experts called for booster vaccinations for everyone aged 18 and over.
The Stiko chairman Thomas Mertens announced on Tuesday evening in the ZDF program “Markus Lanz” that the recommendation would be expanded soon. In addition, it was also discussed when a booster vaccination makes sense and how an onslaught of those who want to be vaccinated can best be managed.
