Bochum In the case of the railway sabotage at the weekend, the state security in Bochum is assuming a “politically motivated act”. A police spokesman told the German Press Agency on Monday morning. “We have formed a larger investigative team at the state security, which is working flat out to clarify the background to the crime.” The Bochum state security is investigating the crime scene in Herne.
On Saturday morning, the cable infrastructure of the railways in Berlin and NRW was severely damaged, and train traffic in northern Germany was temporarily canceled. Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) spoke of sabotage.
According to dpa information, the cable damage occurred in NRW in the area of the Herne train station. Where exactly, the police did not want to reveal on Monday for reasons of investigation tactics. “There is nothing to see now anyway, since the damage has been repaired,” said the police spokesman.
Since Berlin was also a place of sabotage, the investigators from the Ruhr area are in close contact with their colleagues at the State Criminal Police Office in the capital. State security is also investigating there.

Federal Transport Minister Wissing has not yet provided any information on the possible perpetrators and their motive. Much seems unclear in the complex case.

Countless travelers were stranded at train stations over the weekend. In the north, train traffic was completely stopped for almost three hours on Saturday morning. During the day, the railways reported that the disruptions had been resolved. After that, train traffic gradually returned to normal.
