It is even said that it will start selling in the UK first. But will the MG 4 be able to challenge big companies like Tesla with its price and features?

MG’s new hatchback electric car, MG 4, aims to be the company’s best-selling vehicle with its features and price. This car, which we will soon start seeing on the streets in England, will go on sale towards the end of the year across Europe. It is said that his arrival in Turkey will be around the beginning of 2023.
When we look at the physical features of the vehicle, we see that it has a length of 4,287 mm, a width of 1,835 mm and a height of 1,504 mm. In addition, we can say that he looks quite sporty. Among its competitors, Volkswagen ID.3 ranks first.
Shocking claim for Tesla electric car models

In the past years, the range of small-sized vehicles was equally low. The MG 4 changes this situation. It offers two different battery options, 51 kWh and 64 kWh. In this way, it offers a range of 350 km and 450 km under the best conditions. In addition, the 64 kWh version, which offers a range of 450 km, can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 35 minutes with 135 kW DC fast charging.
Of course, let’s say that these battery packs come with their own engine configurations. With the 51 kWh battery comes an electric motor of 125 kW, ie 170 hp, and with the 64 kWh comes an electric motor of 150 kW, that is, 200 hp. In other words, it comes with a powerful engine and a long range.
0-100 acceleration of the car is under 8 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 160 km/h. Although it will be on sale with a single-engine option with rear-wheel drive for the time being, it is said that a dual-engine, that is, four-wheel drive model, may also be introduced until it comes to Turkey.
However, the MG 4 price has now become clear. The model of the vehicle, which offers 51 kWh battery and 125 kWh engine power, will go on sale for 25 thousand 995 pounds, that is, 31 thousand 400 dollars, while the version with 64 kWh battery and 150 kWh engine power will go on sale for 28 thousand 495 pounds, or 34 thousand 490 dollars.
However, with the new regulation that came into force in Turkey, it should be noted that both configurations of this vehicle are now in the 10 percent SCT class, not 80 percent. Therefore, according to today’s exchange rate, the base model including SCT will have a sales price of 620 thousand TL, and the upper package will have a sales price of around 690 thousand TL.
MG and the electric car adventure
MG was founded in England nearly 100 years ago and over time became a prominent company with sports cars. But over the years it has changed hands between many companies such as British Motor, Rover Group and BMW. Most recently, it was acquired by the Chinese Nanjing Automobile Group 17 years ago.
Following this acquisition in 2005, Nanjing embarked on a major electric transformation of MG. Today, it stands out with its relatively affordable electric cars.
