Dusseldorf For thousands of customers of Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, the termination came out of nowhere. The sharp rise in prices on the energy market presented the supplier with “economic challenges”. It was hoped that the situation would calm down, but “unfortunately that didn’t happen,” says a letter of termination available to the Handelsblatt.
That’s why the decision was made to “stop the supply of electricity and gas outside of North Rhine-Westphalia”. Many customers now have to look for a new electricity and gas supplier by the end of the year.
“The concentration on the core market of Düsseldorf and the region, which is already planned in our strategy, means that we avoid economic risks and thus remain able to act in the future,” the energy supplier explained the procedure to the Handelsblatt on request. Overall, it is about a five-digit number of customers.
