Spotify announced: Here are the most listened to songs of the last 10 years!

Spotify entered the Turkish market 10 years ago, and with the impact of the visible increase in domestic music consumption, Turkey’s music industry has never been the same again. As of today, the most listened to songs of the last 10 years on Spotify have been announced.

One thing is certain: Turkey’s love for local music has increased significantly over the years. Spotify’s data for the last 10 years shows that there were only 3 songs by local artists in Turkey’s Top 100 list in 2013. By 2018, the platform witnessed a great rise with 72 local songs in Turkey’s Top 100 list.

Today, as of 2023, 94 of the 100 most listened to songs consist of local songs. While Spotify is announcing Turkey’s most listened to artists, female artists, songs and music groups in its 10th year in Turkey in the last 10 years, it seems that only one foreign name is included in all these Top 10 lists.

The listening rate of Turkish artists in countries outside Turkey has also increased significantly over the years. Today, Spotify has reached 551 million active users in over 180 countries, and the listening rate of Turkish artists in countries other than Turkey has increased by an average of nearly 75 percent every year.

The music taste of users in Turkey has also changed in 10 years. Between 2013 and 2017, pop music was more popular. This period was also a period when alternative and experimental sounds accompanied the listeners.

As of 2017, hip hop has firmly entered the most listened to lists and has since become one of the most popular music genres in Turkey. Nowadays, the music that people like to listen to is; A great richness and diversity draws attention, influenced by sounds such as arabesque, electronica and Turkish Folk Music and nourished by mainstream movements such as pop, rock, indie and hip hop.

Spotify announced the RADAR program, which aims to support emerging local artists

As Spotify celebrates its 10th anniversary in Turkey, it announced that it has launched its global program RADAR, which aims to support new talents in the country. RADAR is a global artist program that aims to support artists at the beginning of their careers, helping them reach new audiences by providing them with more promotional support on and off the platform.

RADAR Among Turkey’s first artists, there are Suchken Boyle, Ege Can Sal, Paptircem, Selin and Sena Şahin, each of whom has different backgrounds but builds their art with their own vision and perspective.
