SpaceX sets date for Starlink aircraft service

The Starlink service, which started to be tested on airplanes in April, has come to an end. SpaceX has given the date for the highly anticipated aircraft service.

The internet experience on airplanes, unfortunately, does not meet expectations. Stating that they will provide fast and uninterrupted internet service on aircraft, Starlink announced that they have successfully completed the preliminary tests for Starlink on Delta aircraft.

On the company’s website, “You will be able to experience live broadcasts, games and video calls at every altitude. Starlink provides up to 350 Mbps internet to each plane, allowing all passengers to access high-speed internet at the same time.” expressions are included.

With low latency of up to 20ms, passengers will be able to use video calls, online games and other high-speed internet services on board the aircraft. Elon Musk also underlined that broadcasting can be done on airplanes thanks to low latency.

The service, which reached a speed of 100 Mbps in the first tests, will be able to reach 350 Mbps in real use. Starlink, the world’s largest satellite team covering the ocean, land and polar regions, is positioned to connect passengers where their flight routes pass.

Starlink’s low-profile Aero Terminal features an electronically steered phased array antenna that provides new reliability, redundancy and performance benefits. In addition, Starlink aircraft kit provides fast installation thanks to its simplified design.

Airline companies will be able to register early for aircraft service starting today. The company announced that the service will launch in 2023.
