Song Made With Eminem’s Voice Removed From Copyright Infringement

Artificial intelligence technologies have made a major breakthrough in the last year. Artificial intelligence technologies such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, ElevenLabs and Uberduckhas also changed social media and content consumption. Many content producers have started to produce content with artificial intelligence.

One of these content has recently encountered a copyright infringement decision, which can be considered as a precedent. He wrote a rap song about cats and performed it with Eminem’s voice. “Dr Grandayy” has suffered from the removal of content from the world’s largest music company and Universal Music Group, which includes Eminem.

Universal Music removed the AI-created Eminem song:

“Universal Music Group has decided to copyright strike my AI Eminem Cat Rap video. They usually get credit and monetize videos like this one, but they really wanted AI Eminem to be removed for some reason.”

Although we cannot access the song at the moment, it is still possible to find traces of it on YouTube. Below is an excerpt of the rap song by Dr Grandayy: part of the video you can see (1.25 – 1.54):

What does a copyright infringement decision mean?

There is no comprehensive law in any country in the world about artificial intelligence technologies and the use of these technologies. Decisions are mostly at the discretion of the courts. For this reason, many of the decisions made by the courts par value can carry.

Universal Music’s justification for such an infringement also points out that the use of famous voices may cause legal problems.
