Solana network suffered a major outage today due to a single misconfigured node operator. SOL price tumbled 6% after the cut.
Solana collapsed again
After being down for 14 hours in September of last year, Solana is experiencing the same outage after almost a year. Thus, the network went dark for the fourth time this year. On October 1, Solana Status reported that the Solana network was down. He tweeted in later details that he was having trouble processing transactions. The developers are currently working on the issue.
As the reason for the outage, Laine, a Solana validator, explained through a series of tweets that a misconfigured node operator caused a network split. Because a validator ran two instances, the validators had trouble reaching consensus.
SOL price lost around 6%
SOL, the network’s native cryptocurrency, tumbled around 6% after the outage. Despite being launched as an Ethereum killer, SOL often comes up with news of outages. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko says network outages have become a curse for them.
The price of SOL has always experienced serious fluctuations on the dates of the blackouts. The October 1 outage resulted in a loss of around 6%.
