Site Inherited by Satoshi Nakamoto Hacked! Here’s What Happened

The website Bitcoin.org, registered by Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi, was hacked in the morning. Those who entered the site encountered a “pop-up” for a while. The message claimed that if users send BTC to a Bitcoin address, they will receive twice as much as they send, the Bitcoin Foundation “giving back to the community”.

The site, launched by Satoshi Nakamoto and BTC developer Martti Malmi, was hacked in the morning, and hackers demanded that users send Bitcoin to a specific address and claimed that they would be given twice the amount sent. A message box that opens upon entering the page states that only the first 10,000 users can benefit from the offer.

The message contained a QR code as well as the address. Users are not allowed to bypass or ignore this message box. For this reason, the site functions were very limited. According to Bitcoin explorer Blockchain.com, the scam address in the message box has received more than $17,899 in small transactions as of writing.

Multiple attacks on Bitcoin.org
