Mersin Provincial Police Department of Fight Against Cybercrime teams cryptocurrency announced that it caught the scammers who introduced the stock market as investment experts and promised to make high profits.

The fraud network in question was deceiving people through their hacked social media accounts.

It turned out that the members of the network carried out their actions in the houses they rented daily, from the apart hotel rooms.

“Members create fake websites for fraudulent acts and fraudulent links called ‘phishing phishing’;

they determined the lowest crypto money investment as 5 thousand TL through their hacked social media accounts;

and it was determined that they were committing fraud with the promise of earning high profits as a result of their investments.”

Police teams stated that they seized the identity information of 50 million people, manipulated the GSM line information of 10 thousand people, and obtained identity cards, temporary identity documents, bank IBAN and bank card information.

The teams also said that they determined that the suspects defrauded 721 thousand 334 TL of 39 citizens.

The Mersin-based operation was also carried out in Adana, Hatay, Gaziantep, Urfa, Mardin, Bitlis, Bingol, Antalya, Konya, Istanbul, Malatya, Bursa and Van.
