Dusseldorf, Zurich The oil company Shell Germany informed its major customers in a letter on Monday about a drastic step: All of the company’s products, from heating oil to diesel to lubricating grease, are now only available to a very limited extent and some are no longer offered at all.

This applies to quantities procured at short notice, i.e. only to those customers who do not have an existing supply contract with Shell. The letter is available to the Handelsblatt. The Bloomberg news agency previously reported that Shell was restricting the sale of heating oil products in Germany. Other oil companies are said to have restricted trading in the meantime.

Shell is thus drawing consequences from the turmoil that has prevailed on the global oil markets since the outbreak of the Ukraine war. On Sunday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken brought up new sanctions against Russia. Stopping energy supplies to Europe is now also being discussed.
