Dusseldorf Gerhard Manfred Rokossa was proud of his personnel decision. “I am delighted that we have found an ideal successor in Andreas Schönfeld,” said the 82-year-old founder of the stove manufacturer Spartherm in Melle, Lower Saxony. “With him and our young management team, our company is excellently positioned for the future and is in the best of hands.” That was in July 2021.

However, the young Spartherm management – to which Julian Oldemeyer belongs alongside Schönfeld – apparently doubts that the company has been in the best of hands so far. Management has reported several Spartherm employees. The accusation: They are said to have stolen stoves from the company on a large scale and sold them on the black market. Alleged ringleader of the gang: Gerhard Rokossa himself.

The public prosecutor’s office in Osnabrück is investigating on suspicion of infidelity and tax evasion. The damage could run into the millions for the company as a whole. When asked, a spokesman for the authorities confirmed that investigations were ongoing, but did not name any names.
