The Serbian President is in a quandary. On the one hand, he presents himself as a person who understands Putin. On the other hand, he wants to lead his country into the EU.

Berlin Few foreign politicians know Vladimir Putin better than Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Serbia has condemned the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, but the candidate country, which among other things depends 100 percent on Russian gas, does not support the sanctions imposed by the EU.

How do you assess him and his intentions in Ukraine today?
He didn’t discuss this with me. I last saw him on November 25th last year. At the time, we only spoke for a few minutes on the subject of Ukraine.
