Scania electric bus platform introduced

As the electric car trend increases, heavy vehicle production plans are evolving into electric bus and truck production. Scania, which works on e-mobility solutions, introduced its electric bus platform. Here are the details…

Scania electric bus platform will offer a range of over 500 km

The Scania e-mobility project, which first started with the production of hybrid electric buses in 2007, continues to progress with a focus on CO2 reduction. Stating that electric buses have an important position in terms of silence and zero emissions, the authorities underlined that they are accelerating their work.

The electric infrastructure, which is stated to be tested in low-entry 4×2 buses, will be powered by batteries produced from sustainable sources. The platform, which is stated to offer energy storage capacity up to 520 kWh, will be actively used in heavy commercial vehicles.

Scania announced that there will be two different versions: four and five battery versions. The four-battery version will have a range of 400 km and a capacity of 416 kWh. The five-battery version will be introduced with a range of 500 km and a capacity of 520 kWh.

Making a statement on the subject, Carl-Johan Lööf, Head of Product Management for Scania Human Transport Solutions, said: “While developing our new battery electric bus platform, range, performance and battery responsibility were the main areas; all of which are vital to achieving viable and sustainable transport systems. “Combined with our cutting-edge e-mobility services and solutions, this means we will offer complete and highly competitive solutions for urban applications in all our available regions.”

Sustainably developed batteries are designed and produced in partnership with Northvolt and Scania. Scania claims that the new bus platform, equipped with one of the most sustainable heavy commercial vehicle batteries on the market, also brings more advanced safety and digital functions.
