Dusseldorf In presentations by technology companies and LinkedIn posts by Chief Technology Officers, it sounds so simple: companies promise to make better decisions by using data intelligently. In practice, however, this is not so easy to implement – especially the combination of different sources is considered complex.
SAP and Google want to make it easier for joint customers to combine data from different systems and analyze it in real time: the two technology groups announced on Thursday that they would create an “open data cloud” by connecting their platforms.
The partnership will help companies “to get more use out of their entire database,” promised SAP CEO Christian Klein.
The focus is particularly on artificial intelligence (AI), emphasized Google Cloud boss Thomas Kurian. Joint customers should have access to the latest Google technology, which the group just announced at its I/O developer conference.
