Samsung-signed processor created surprise in the tests!

Processors play an important role in smartphones. In this process, Samsung has joined processor manufacturers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek with Exynos processors in recent years. Samsung, which has been using Exynos processors for a long time in some of its models, has managed to leave the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 behind with its new processor.

Recently, processors have significantly increased mobile gaming performance with ray tracing technology. Although it is still a new system, we will soon see ray tracing technology in all flagship processors. Samsung has taken the lead in this regard with the Exynos 2200 processor.

The Samsung Exynos 2200 processor outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Basemark’s Vitro GPU tests. It should be noted that the Vitro GPU tests measure the performance of mobile graphics processors in 3D content in games. Although such comparisons do not produce perfect results, they allow us to get an idea about the processors. In these tests, Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 come face to face.

According to the leaked information, Samsung will include its own Exynos model for the Galaxy S24 processor, which it will introduce in 2024.

Although both processors support the same technology, they offer Vulkan API and ray tracing support using different hardware. Samsung teamed up with AMD for the RDNA 2 architecture and the Exynos 2200’s Xclipse 920 GPU. On the other hand, Qualcomm has integrated ray tracing features into its own Adreno 740 GPU.

When we look at the test results, unexpectedly, the new generation Exynos 2200 offers higher average numbers than the current Snapdragon flagship 8 Gen 2. On the other hand, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 hosts the highest FPS values. However, the low FPS figures that Snapdragon has at the same time have resulted in this result.

Of course, such tests can be misleading and focus on a single point. Therefore, although we cannot talk about a definite victory, it can still be seen as impressive that the Exynos 2200 surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the popular processor of the last period.
