Sabire Aydemir, who wants to be a doctor, learned that female students will be accepted to the veterinary faculty in the year she will enter the university. Aydemir, who chose the veterinary faculty because of her love for animals, became the first female veterinarian in Turkey.
in 1937 After graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, he worked as an assistant in the branch of bacteriology at Ankara Refik Saydam Hygiene Institute. After working as an assistant for 5 years, he got the title of Bacteriology Specialist.
Bacteriologist as Veterinarian at Istanbul Pendik Bacteriology and Research Institute worked. Later on, Aydemir continued his career at Ankara Etlik Veterinary Control and Research Institute, and asked for a voluntary appointment. Aydemir, who speaks English and German, died in 1991.
Awards given to Sabire Aydemir:
- Award and plaque as the “First Female Veterinarian”, which was awarded by the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 1984, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the recognition of women’s right to vote and be elected.
- As a result of the evaluation made by the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association on April 30, 2016, the first female veterinarian in this profession was awarded for the outstanding services he has given to the Veterinary Medicine Profession.
