Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has addressed the European Parliament with an emotional video message. “We want to see our children live,” said Selenski. He called on the EU states to stand by Ukraine and not leave the country alone in the face of Russian aggression. “Prove you’re with us. (…) Prove that you are actually European.” Then life will win against war.
Zelensky also urged his country to join the European Union. “We are fighting for our rights, for our freedom, for our lives. And now we’re fighting to survive,” Zelenski said. “But we’re also fighting to be equal members of Europe,” he said. “The European Union will be much stronger with us. That’s for sure.”
In solidarity with Ukraine, many MEPs at the special session of the European Parliament wore the Ukrainian colors of blue and yellow. After his message, Selenski received standing applause for several minutes.
