Russia’s war against Ukraine – all developments

Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is ready of his country, after Russia’s attack on Ukraine take in numerous refugees from the neighboring country. “We will take in those who need it,” Morawiecki told the newspapers of the Funke media group and the French newspaper “Ouest-France” (Sunday). Poland is “ready to take in tens, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees.”

According to government sources, since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Thursday so far more than 110,000 refugees in Poland arrived. Only a few months ago, when many people from crisis areas such as Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq tried to enter the EU illegally from Belarus, the country had closed this eastern border.

For Germany Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser promised help for refugees. “The federal government will provide all possible support. We are prepared and very attentive to all conceivable effects of this war,” said the SPD politician of the “Bild am Sonntag”. She emphasized: “Now it’s a matter of acting quickly, in solidarity and together in Europe.”
