Russia’s war against Ukraine – all developments

Six months after Russia’s attack, Green Party leader Omid Nouripour sees continued popular support for Ukraine. “My impression is that the Germans know exactly what is at stake,” said the party’s co-chair on Wednesday in Hamburg. “And if the Ukraine war isn’t on page one for three days, then it’s not a sign of war fatigue.”

Nouripour warned: “We will have to do everything we can to ensure that the social hardships of this coming winter are cushioned.” In view of the high inflation, this will not succeed completely. Politicians have to explain well and do everything to ensure that people get through the winter well. “And after the winter it will all be a lot more relaxed.”

Nouripour welcomed Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s (SPD) announcement that he would deliver more weapons to Ukraine. “That’s a good sign, especially on this Independence Day.” Germany has already done a lot. But: “There is more. We have to see from day to day what more is possible.” Where the exchange of rings does not work, one must also consider whether more could be supplied from the stocks of the Bundeswehr or industry.
