Russia Shut Down Darknet Sites Using Cryptocurrency!

Recently cryptocurrencies officially recognized and regulation studies in this area will be started. In Russia It was announced that 4 “darknet” sites that accept crypto money payments were closed.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Trump’s Dump, Sky-Fraud forum, UAS Store and Ferum Shop were among the darknet sites that were shut down.

It is estimated that the 4 illegal platforms have earned a total of more than $263 million in cryptocurrencies since their inception to date.

It was also stated that buyers mostly use Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC) and Ethereum (ETH) to pay with stolen cards.

Darknet sites are an overlay network within the internet that can only be accessed with certain software, configurations, or authorization, and often uses a unique customized communication protocol.

The use of cryptocurrencies in the darknet, which is generally used for illegal transactions (human trafficking, drug dealing, stolen credit card transactions…) is quite high.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia stated that these closed sites are located in the darknet market used for money laundering activities and that the closed Ferum Shop is the largest seller of stolen credit cards.
