Dusseldorf The supply of natural gas from Russia to Europe has been falling for weeks. However, since Thursday, the day Russia invaded Ukraine, gas supplies have surprisingly increased – and significantly so. “We see a strong increase. Almost twice as much natural gas is now coming from Russia via the Ukraine to Slovakia as it was two days ago,” explains energy analyst Andreas Schroeder from the market research institute Icis.

Companies from Italy and Germany requested the natural gas. Among them is Uniper, one of the largest gas traders in Europe. “Russian gas is currently cheaper than the gas that is traded on the exchange,” says Schroeder.
