Berlin Robert Habeck has only been Federal Minister of Economics since December 8th. But the Green politician is already quite active. Most recently, he made headlines with the proposal to bring the chip industry back to Germany with billions in funding. And the new annual economic report, the draft of which is exclusively available to the Handelsblatt, already bears Habeck’s signature.

The annual economic report is something like the regulatory creed of a federal government. It is all the more exciting to see how the first green economics minister interprets regulatory policy and defines the foundation on which the economic policy of the new traffic light government should rest.

Despite his short term in office, Habeck has realigned the report and clearly emphasizes the ecological dimension of economic activity in the report. The title already shows clearly where the journey is headed: “Shaping transformation, further developing regulatory frameworks in a climate-friendly manner” is the title of the 78-page report.
