Good news for international phone users! AK Party’s Deputy Chairman in charge of foreign relations, Zafer Sırakaya, announced in his statement that the current 120-day usage right will be increased. Let’s take a look at the details together.
International phone usage period has been extended from 120 days to 180 days
Those who will benefit most from this will, of course, be dual-line smartphone owners. The SIM card slot you use on January 1, 2024 will expire in June, then you can insert it into the second SIM card slot in June and continue using it until the end of the year.
Zafer Sırakaya said in his statement on X: “With the new regulation, if an application is made for ‘Temporary communication’ for mobile phones abroad via e-Government, the usage period of mobile devices can be extended twice for 30 days.” he explained the situation.
Foreign phone owners will be able to request a time extension from e-Government before the 120-day usage period expires and they will be able to use the phone for 180 days.
The only regulation is not for phones, the usage period of foreign vehicles also changes.
Sırakaya also stated that people who retire abroad and stay in Turkey for a long time are given a period of 730 days for the vehicles they bring temporarily. Sırakaya, “With the completion of this period, the obligation of our retired citizens to take their vehicles abroad is eliminated. Our regulation, which allows a one-time extension of up to 730 days, will come into force in 2024.” said.
According to the infographic shared by Sırakaya, the stay period of vehicles brought to Turkey within the scope of temporary import has been extended to 4 years, especially for retirees residing abroad. Retirees can request a one-time extension of their vehicle’s stay for another 2 years.
Retirees who start the process at customs offices before the first 2-year period expires will have an additional 2 years without the obligation to export their vehicles and comply with the 185-day waiting period. This will also be valid for vehicles currently in Turkey.
