Cologne Stockings used to be made at Friedrichsstraße 11A in Thalheim, a small town in the Saxon Ore Mountains. From January 2023, 15 families will live in the large, yellow-painted house – in chic loft apartments. According to the housing manager’s online ad, “a part of the industrial charm” of the building was to be retained.

The apartments are all around 150 square meters and cost around 1,200 euros a month, i.e. around eight euros per square meter. A proud price – according to wohnungsboerse.net, the average in Thalheim in 2021 was only 5.39 euros.
