I’ve been to New York at least 15 times and I’m amazed by the diversity of the city every time. This time I’m here to visit what is currently the absolute hot spot on the global hotel scene and to spend a few days there: the newest – 34th – hotel of the Aman Group, which is spoiled by success.

I hardly get off at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57. Street my yellow cab, the so-familiar massive New York soundscape wafts around me like an everything else absorbing bubble. I’m standing in front of the famous neoclassical Crown Building. The Museum of Modern Art had its first seat here from 1929 to 1932. In recent years the building has been extensively redesigned and has now been home to the Aman New York since the beginning of August.
