Qualcomm X Elite processor introduced!

Qualcomm introduced its most powerful chip yet, the Snapdragon X Elite, at the annual Snapdragon event in Hawaii. This Arm-based processor replaces the previous Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 series for laptops, showing a significant jump in performance.

Apple A17 Pro rival: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 introduced!

Qualcomm officially introduced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which has been on the agenda with leaks. Here are the features of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3!

Qualcomm claims that compared to Apple’s M2 chip, the X Elite offers 50 percent faster peak multi-threaded performance. Moreover, thanks to its integrated GPU, it promises twice the graphics performance of the i7-13800H at ISO power.

Qualcomm’s new AI engine is set to significantly improve machine learning tasks by up to 75 TOPs, which is claimed to be 4.5 times more than competitors.

The chip is designed to run large language models with up to 13 billion parameters and claims the fastest Stable Diffusion performance of any laptop chip on the market.

Additional features include AV1 4K HDR video encoding/decoding support, 5G connectivity (with download speeds up to 10 Gbps), Wi-Fi 7, and integrated Sensing Hub.

While the Snapdragon X Elite offers impressive specifications and power measurements, Qualcomm also faces the challenge of turning this potential into tangible performance. Unlike Apple, Qualcomm has no control over both the chip design and the software/operating system it runs.

Systems running Windows on Arm lag behind their x86-based counterparts in terms of speed and responsiveness.
