Putin orders a one-week lockdown for the economy – majority of Germans for the end of the emergency

In Despite rising corona numbers, Bulgaria protested against the planned 3G rule against the introduction of corona certificates as access authorization. The new measures are discriminatory for people without “green certificates”, said demonstrators in front of the Ministry of Health in Sofia. The interim ministers for health and education, Stojtscho Kazarov and Nikolaj Denkow, were surrounded by demonstrators in front of the government seat. There were also protests in other cities such as Varna and Burgas on the Black Sea. Protesters and several parties have called for Health Minister Kazarov to resign.

Due to the increasing number of new corona infections, the 3G rule for visits to restaurants, fitness centers, shopping malls, cinemas and museums should apply in the EU country from Thursday. Access will then only be possible with certificates for those who have been vaccinated, those who have been tested and those who have recovered from Covid-19. The association of restaurant operators announced a boycott of the 3G rule as well as protests because restaurants would go bankrupt en masse.

With around 20 percent of those completely vaccinated against Covid-19, Bulgaria brings up the rear in the EU. The seven-day incidence rose to 329.9 per 100,000 people on Wednesday. In Germany it was 80.4 nationwide. Most recently, 4957 new corona infections were detected in the south-eastern European country with 6.9 million inhabitants.
