Washington At the G20 summit in Rome, which begins on Saturday, US President Joe Biden has to iron out some conflicts: a diplomatic crisis with Turkey or the aftermath of the submarine dispute with France.

Of all things, Russia and China will only take part in the G20 meeting virtually – which once again shows Biden’s limited scope, who wants to act as a mediator on the world stage.

In this tense situation, Europe is more important than ever for the USA, says US security advisor Fiona Hill in an interview with Handelsblatt – and not just as a partner, but as an independent actor. “Perhaps it is time for Europeans to communicate more proactively and express their concerns instead of waiting for the US,” urges the Putin biographer.
