Dusseldorf In the US, federal prosecutors have launched an investigation into Icahn Enterprises. This was announced by the group of star investors Carl Icahn on Wednesday. The share then fell by up to 20 percent at the start of trading in New York and then limited its losses somewhat.

The investigation was sparked by a report by short-seller Hindenburg Research, which accused Icahn – one of Wall Street’s most influential investors – of inflating the company’s assets and then using the overvalued shares as collateral for loans. Hindenburg therefore relies on falling share prices.

The allegations were published on May 2, and the public prosecutor’s office reported the next day. They asked Icahn Enterprises for information on corporate governance, dividend payment and other issues, Icahn Enterprises said in a statement. You will cooperate with the investigators and do not believe that the investigation will have a significant impact on the business.
