Frankfurt Final sprint with the property tax return: By the end of October, all property owners must submit data about their properties to the tax authorities as part of a special tax return. From this, the authorities calculate a new property tax for the 36 million properties in Germany.
The living space is queried, because this largely determines the property tax value. This in turn is the basis for the property tax to be paid. Only in Baden-Württemberg does the tax depend on the pure area of the property. The following applies to the other countries: Anything that does not have to be counted as living space should under no circumstances be stated as such – otherwise it will be unnecessarily expensive.
So it’s worth measuring, even if you have a floor plan. But the devil is in the details.
