Possible hacker attack on German chambers of commerce

hacker attack

In recent years, the risk of cyber attacks on German companies and organizations has increased.

Berlin Anyone who wants to reach the employees and websites of the German Chambers of Commerce (IHK) is currently out of luck. All mail servers and the websites of the business organization, which comprises a total of 70 Chambers of Industry and Commerce, are paralysed. The reason is a possible hacker attack.

A spokesman for the company responsible for information processing (Gfi) told the Handelsblatt: “It still has to be found out whether it was an attack.” It is therefore not known what the motives of the possible attacker were. It will also be checked whether data has already been lost.

All systems are currently being monitored individually and then gradually released again, the spokesman said. It is still unclear how long the review and release of the systems will take.
