Klingbeil did not answer whether he was also interested in a ministerial position.
He emphasized that it was important for him to work in a team, as in the past two years: That made the SPD strong and successful again. ”The SPD had the chance to position itself in the long term as a“ modern and well-positioned people’s party ”. That is not done with a successful federal election.
Politician wants to continue dual leadership
The general secretary would like to hold on to the SPD dual leadership. “The dual leadership has proven itself,” he said. “When we introduced it as a possibility, the SPD was in a completely different position than it is today. Two chairmen who work in a team are good for the SPD. ”Klingbeil also thinks it makes sense if the future chairmen do not hold a ministerial office at the same time.
