PlayStation 3 still has millions of users!

According to the information leaked during the latest ransomware attack on Insomniac Games, Sony’s veteran console PlayStation 3 is still a console that gamers cannot give up because of its number of users.

PlayStation 3 has 2 million monthly active users

PlayStation 3 continues to maintain its strong user base with nearly two million monthly active users. Although the report containing this data is almost a year old, it clearly shows us the continued popularity of PS3 among gaming enthusiasts.

The leaked report, which focuses on the number of monthly active users of PlayStation Network (PSN), states that PSN monthly active users are expected to reach an impressive figure of 107.5 million by February 2023.

Among Sony’s gaming consoles, the PS4 leads the way with 71.5 million monthly active users, thanks to widespread adoption since its launch.

In particular, PS5, which was released in 2020, is rapidly catching up, showing its increasing popularity among gamers with approximately 37.1 million monthly active users as of February 2023.

What sets the PS3 apart is its incredible durability and continued relevance in the gaming community. Despite being almost two decades old, the PlayStation 3 has an active user base fluctuating between 2.3 million and 1.9 million from December 2022 to February 2023.

This unexpected longevity demonstrates the enduring appeal of the PS3, which has become a haven for hardcore fans who continue to enjoy the console’s beloved classics.

Demand for the PS3’s extensive game library remains high, leading fans to express hope for some form of emulation support in the absence of official backwards compatibility.
