Physical button is returning in Volkswagen vehicles!- SDN

Trip computers and touch-screen menus are now among the basic car features today. Especially with electric cars, touch screens have become an indispensable part of automobile consoles. But how useful are touch screens? In this sense, physical buttons for the touch screen seem to be returning on the Volkswagen side.

The brand, which has started to include touch screens in both its electric and normal models for a long time, seems to be going back on this decision. Judging by the feedback received from drivers, Volkswagen in-car touch screens are not that useful. In this sense, the brand held a special press conference for its new electric car concept ID2.all. One of the highlights about the vehicle was the return of physical buttons.

The company’s interior designer, Darius Watola, also included physical buttons under the touch screen, based on feedback from customers. But why exactly do drivers complain about touch screens? There are touch navigation keys under the touch screens in Volkswagen vehicles. However, drivers cannot see these navigation keys in low light conditions.

In this sense, the brand decided to add a backlit physical button under the touch screen in its new electric concept model. It is also important that the brand starts this change in interior design, especially in an electric model. Because this shows that the brand will also add physical buttons to new gasoline models.

The new Volkswagen ID.7 received a five-star safety score from Euro NCAP and became the safest car in the world.

The electric Volkswagen ID2.all model with a physical button is expected to be released in 2026. Volkswagen’s estimated sales price may be below 28 thousand dollars. In this sense, it is among the first features that appear that the vehicle will have a 56kWh battery and a range of 450 km. The model will also include a more affordable 38kWh option.

Although the touch buttons and screens that have increased recently are stylish, how useful are they? In fact, this is a question that is on the minds of not only Volkswagen drivers but also drivers of brands such as Tesla. Old cars, in particular, allowed the driver to easily access all functions of the car without effort. However, touch screens do not have the same usefulness, at least not in every brand.

So, do you think Volkswagen is making the right decision by bringing back physical buttons? We welcome your comments and opinions.
