The Ministry of Commerce has re-determined the number of mobile phone installments in the past months. The Presidency announced that they reorganized the cell phone base in the decision published in the Official Gazette.
Three different SCTs are applied for mobile phones: 25 percent, 40 percent and 50 percent. The excise tax base has been increased for affordable mobile phones, which are subject to the lowest segment. With the SCT tax regulation, users will be able to purchase entry-level devices at a more affordable price.
Mobile phone excise tax base increased
With the published decision, it is expected that a gradual discount will be applied on affordable smartphones. The SCT base, which was 640 TL, was specified as 1,500 TL in the new decision.
No changes were made to the flagship devices in the luxury class. While the price range for entry-level devices is up to 1,500 TL, the price range of mid-segment models is determined as 1,500 to 3,000 TL.
In the published announcement, it is stated that the decision will be implemented as of the publication date. Thanks to the number of installments changed in December, 3 installments were offered to smartphones of 5,000 TL or more.
