Zurich, Frankfurt The alliance of oil exporting countries, Opec plus, will maintain its production quota, which was valid until the end of December, in the new year. The oil ministers of the 23 Opec-plus countries decided this at a virtual meeting on Sunday.

The decision was made unanimously and without major discussion, as reported by the Bloomberg news agency and the Energy Intelligence industry service. The next time Opec plus wants to decide on the subsidy policy at the beginning of February.

The Opec-plus countries around Saudi Arabia and Russia are thus maintaining their production volume of around 41.9 million barrels per day, which was set in October. The continuation of the current production targets beyond the end of December had already become apparent after the Opec-plus countries had moved the summit of oil ministers originally planned in Vienna to a virtual meeting. According to the Reuters news agency, some delegates who had already traveled to Vienna left early.
